Are you living a life of purpose?

How do you know what your life purpose is?

Are you living the life you feel you should be? or are you in auto-pilot, getting through every day, month, year and still not really understanding what your life’s purpose is?

“The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why” ~ Mark Twain

“Your purpose in life is to find your purpose and give your whole heart and soul to it” ~ Buddha

Here are some suggestions to help.

Enjoy the journey. It’s not about getting to your destination quickly but more about learning life skills and lessons along the way.  Absolutely have your destination as your goal as it gives you something to aim for, however, along the way you may find that you grow interests within the lessons you learn, which may lead you elsewhere.

Define what you want and what you need. You may find that you don’t actually want what you thought you wanted and that you find what you need. Remember it IS a journey of discovery.

Are you feeling it or doing it? You should be feeling it. Follow your gut instincts – they are always right.  If you are doing it and it feels wrong, then stop.  It is never too late to change direction.

Talk to like-minded people. There are many out there that will be negative about what you are doing and aiming for.  You don’t need the negativity, so don’t discuss your life aims with these people.  Seek out others who are on their journey of discovery. Stay positive.

Do what you want to do. Don’t worry about how others tell you to live your life. Enjoy your journey to find your purpose.  It’s your purpose.  As Henry Ford says, “if you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got”.

  1. Sadly, many people wander through life and never give this topic a single thought. Generally, I believe that each of us is expected to do good to our fellow man. How we accomplish that however, is left up to us.

  2. This is an amazing post. I have lived and experienced these words.
I headed west (across the USA), thinking that Colorado was my destination.
Little did I know,… for my ‘gut instincts’ took me further west, into California.
Never had I thought I would be living in California…and I am.
